Júlia Balassa, painter
I was born in Budapest, 17th October, 1960.
“It was already evident in my childhood, that
I have a natural gift for drawing, I am musical and
have a liking for dance. After my decoration-painting
grammar school education, I became very exited by textile
art because of its picturesqueness as well as its special
suggestive form. I received my diploma at the Applied
Art School in 1967 as textile art student of Csaba Polgár.
I am a human being who is looking for the deeper correlation
of the world and want to understand them. I feel strongly
attracted to the eternal and transcendent themes in
all my work. The main characteristics of my compositions
are strong picturesqueness, my love for colours, strict
composition, and a sort of “textile” way
of seeing things. Beside watercolour paintings, I also
make upholstery/goblins. For me the work of art is the
way of life and it ennobles the soul.
